How did you feel after the walk today
Uplifted
Good
It was just the right amount of fun & challenge for me. I loved the relaxing pace and friendly company. The best part was seeing my son enjoy himself.
Even though weather was gloomy I felt like the the sun was shining inside 😊
Sense of achievement
Refreshed and active
Great walk and lovely to go with so many people. We stuck together as a group and enjoyed it to the end with some slight inclines
Did you learn anything today?
I learnt how to better prepare my family for our next walk. We had some good advice by the organisers about what to wear and experiencing one of the hikes myself I feel like I know what we’ll need for next time.
Waterproofs are a must
Perhaps a minimum of at least 2 hrs for all walks should be considered …
We went much more slowly today and strangely it was much easier to do and enjoyed the conversations more. Walk slowly, think more, socialise more!
Any overall feedback?
Great walk
It was perfect.

Breathing exercise 😊
Need to encourage more people to attend.

It would be nice if the walk started on time

29th October 2022
Only 3 people came on this walk to Sandstone Trail. There was an 80% chance of rain and yet when we went on the walk, it was idyllic with clear skies for 99% of the time - it only started to rain slightly when we were almost back to our car. But as there were only 3 of us (me included on the walk), we decided not to post feedback on how it was but here is how one person felt after the walk:
"Today’s walk was on the sandstone trail. A mixture of all sorts of views - from forests to open lush green grounds to corn fields! Loved how fresh and clean the air smelled. Amazing sceneries all around. Saw sheep and cows and even turkeys! Also had great company! The walk was very soothing and refreshing - just what I needed after a mad busy week at work."
Rashida shared this wonderful article from the Guardian entitled "Bad weather is good for you: take a walk in the wind and rain"
See the photos and video from this walk and BE AMAZED. There is no such thing as bad weather - just bad clothing and footwear! Be prepared and hope for the best next time!

How did you feel after the walk?
I felt amazing and very energised
Positive
Sense of achievement.
Admiration for nature.
Gratitude for being able to be part of such beautiful scenery
Excellent breathtaking views. Worth to go again.
What have you learned today?
Felt like had to rush back...salah times changing too
Emphasis importance of communication. If booked for a walk and can’t turn up , let the group know asap so they are not waiting around for people who have decided not to come .
Give myself more time as walk could have taken longer than it was indicated
Group walk always more enjoyable when people help each other to achieve something good. Jazakallah khairan to Kaniz for being a excellent go to person!
Any overall feedback?
Go to person was very friendly and approachable..we hit some very muddy slippy terrain but we were all there to help each other
If joining a group walk , importance of starting and finishing together and keeping the go - to person informed of decisions to go ahead etc . as the go- to has the overall responsibility of leading the walk
It was an amazing walk.
Go to person seemed very experienced.
Also very helpful and supportive.
We do need to know how to get help in case there is an accident such as someone slipping, falling or spraining.
It was quite slippery at some places and there is always a possibility that one may slip or fall.
in group walk people must try to stick close to the group. No matter how fast or slow or know the area, everyone should follow the go to person's guidance.

Spectacular views and amazing company to treasure for a life time!

What have you learned today?
A sister advised to breath in through the nose and out through the mouth as we walked up..it really helped Jazakillahu khairan
Happy to share
Got a idea on how to react in emergency situation
None
We had somebody collapse but the group came together and we all walked back safely. Never leave anybody behind. Alhamdullilah they are fine. It was fortunate somebody int he group had dates and also somebody else had a bottle of water too. Essential items to bring on walks now!
Walks duration and eta of finish and if facilities available at start point could be indicated on all walks would be helpful
Any overall feedback?
It was a great day for a walk. Was just over 3 hours. I think when we mention approx time on the events we should at least an extra half an hour to an hour for late starts etc.
What was an excellent walk
I had a lovely time. It was nice to see some new faces. I didn't get to talk with everyone but insha'Allah they will join other walks and we will get that opportunity.

Met some wonderful people. Didn't realise I had walked so long with all the chating. Everyone was very welcoming would definitely recommend the walking group. The walk itself made me feel energised and set for the weekend ahead.
Felt really energised with the beautiful sunshine and fresh air, walking along the River Mersey with such lovely people.
Great
It was good to meet nice people
What have you learned today?
Always amazing and excellent company, Alhamdulillah
Few new Pashtu words
Don't walk to the start point and back that added an hour to my walk and was a bit much for me.
Bringing waterproof layers just in case it rains. Staying to the left of the path to allow surprise cyclists and joggers ease in passing us on these beautiful scenic paths.
Any overall feedback?
Great introduction for somebody who has never walked before in a group
It is always amazing to walking with this group, especially with the little ones! It's not only benefits our health also socializing too.. which is the best part for me! From today's experience, I'm just thinking walking in a narrow lane, we need to walk one side instead of blocking whole path. Sometimes cyclists doesn't have the bell. At least we can make sure we are walking in same side so they can go pass safely. It sounds like military marching 😁. But it's just a suggestion! We need do need to think of things in the future for a safe walk for everyone ! 👍🏽😊
Good walk
Very friendly and welcoming people
Excellent
Thank you Sabina for leading us, making sure everyone was alright and sticking together. Wonderful seeing old and new friends after being absent for a while. 4.8 miles over 1h 45m but didn’t feel it, with the wonderful company. Lovely to see children joining us. Weather was perfect for one of my favourite walks.

How did you feel after the walk?
Feeling strong and peaceful
Happy and look forward to the next
Refreshed and recharged to face another week. These walks are the highlight of the week and keep me going. Thanks SMMWG.
Hungry
This was going to be a challenging walk. The weather was perfect. We did a steep walk at the start with a great cardiovascular exercise and then walked across the tops of the mountains, stopped to have lunch there and read Zuhr namaz in Jamaal, dropped into Castleton and then walked back to the car park. Finished with a cappuccino, catching up with everybody before returning home. 16737 steps done!
Really enjoyed the walk. Felt like I got a good workout.
Challenged but enjoyed the walk
What have you learned today?
Bring more water
Take walking sticks with you for this walk. They really helped. Having a picnic blanket to sit on and pray helps too. There was a lot of sheep faeces around! Make sure you have multiple layers because whilst it was very hot at the start as we climbed up, it did get windy when we got to the top. There was some confusion at the start on which car park to come to. The main Castleon Visitors Car Park is much better and bigger, has toilets and a small cafe which we should go to. What 3 words for it helps - https://w3w.co/whisk.relaxing.resist as a future reference for anybody wanting to go there again. Costs £6 for 10 hours to park there or you can park nearby on a side street instead
Helpful if start points have facilities and adequate parking space and can easily be located
Any overall feedback?
Awesome love Mam tor and amazing company!

How did you feel after the walk?
Uplifted
Overall it was a good walk albeit I had to stay with the slowest member and everybody left us and we nearly got lost
Annoyed!
Felt great. Lovely weather. Lovely company
What have you learned today?
A group should go together and come back together!
Any overall feedback?
Good walk in lovely company
Although I enjoyed the walk, I felt there wasn't much group atmosphere and people weren't looking out for each other. It's important for group leaders/leader to be mindful of those who are not as fast. I felt really bad about those who were left behind. I don't think it would've happened if br Amir was there.
Annoyed that we were left behind again.
Fantastic walk. Great fun. Family friendly

How did you feel after the walk
Aches
A combination of shattered and happy
Felt amazing to push my body and mind
Exhausted, but inspiring and great achievement! Alhamdulillah
Exhausted and aching all over but sense of achievement
Glad I did it but it was self torture!
Exhilarated and a massive sense of achievement
Wonderful
I felt a great sense of achievement
Great walk, refreshing and met some new and interesting people along the way.
Amazing breath taking views.
Brutal. Snowdon really tests you which makes the achievement very special.
I felt elated having accomplished a substantial hike…
No
This was the toughest walk I have been on. Felt really tired half way up the mountain, called my wife and then we started to ascend further. We pushed each other to get to the top to see some amazing views all around us as the clouds opened up to see below and the sun shining through them. Taking photos amongst the clouds was amazing. Walking back, my legs started to cramp and by the time we got to the bottom, it was pretty tiring but an amazing sense of achievement. And great to go with such a wonderful group of people too!
What have you learned today?
Snowdon walks are better and easier in cold weather, it was bit warm
It was good achievement for me, but should consider the body strength before taking this kind of big hike.
Glad all my group had their own separate bags with food. Needed a battery pack for my phone.
Listen to your body!
Travel light with enough water
More of the same please.
Keep water and food with me not my souse
Train before climbing Snowdon.
To enquire about facilities available prior to the walk as there were no other facilities available at the summit..
All individuals who go should carry their own food and drink with them. Secondly we must carry more than 1 bottle of water / juice on long walks. Thirdly this walk is very hard to do as a group and is much more about 1 or 2 people walking together and keeping the pace. Fourthly, do not expect the restaurant at the very top of the mountain and toilets to be open - they were not open and there was no indication of this. Fifthly this can be a very unforgiving mountain and you could get to the top and not see very much and it be wet and windy or you could get spectacular views too as we fortunately did
Any overall feedback?
Enjoyable
Always a great experience to walk with SMMWG
Great achievement stunning views, worthy to take the challenge. It's the longest and highest life time experience for me. Alhamdulillah
It's wonderful effort, please keep it up
It was the best one so far. Found it challenging
Keep up the good work. 👍🏾
Really enjoyed the walk. Was planningng to do this for a while
Would like accurate detail about difficulty of walk and length of the route. Event organisers are requested to inform people about location of toilets and other facilities eg tea rooms.
Thanks for organising. Had a great day!
Challenging walk which made it all the more enjoyable.
Amazing walk that will push you to your limits, exhilarating and a lot of fun. But if you pace yourself, you can do this and have a lot of fun too!

What have you learned today?
Make sure to go to the services before going on this walk as there were no toilets around. (happy to share)
Preferably start walks from a point that has facilities available as some people coming for the walks are not local
It would have been good to know about any toilet/refreshment facilities

Thank u to everyone who organised this picnic 😁Thank you very much for organising today's picnic.
It was a wonderful opportunity to meet people and share food.
The weather was on our side too.Thankyou all for an amazing picnic today. It was lovely to meet so many of you and to just chat with each other. Unfortunately as a result I did not take as many photos as I would normally do 🤔 but that made up for the fun we all had together and some lovely memories together.
Thank Amir Bhai for organising today’s picnic had a great time and lots of lovely friends. Jazakallah khairan

Can you give us a quote on how you felt after the walk
Alhamdulillah, today was an excellent achievement for me managed to climbed the stiff mountain.
Sense of achievement
After walk felt energetic and fresh mind
Although it was hot 37 degrees centigrade, we did not feel it on the walk and really enjoyed the walk with some great company. We never really felt the heat and great sense of achievement when we climbed to the top. In fact we came down to the “stepping stones”, joined with others in the group and climbed back up again to have our picnic at the top, came down and then had drinks, tea and cake! Wonderful and amazing place with stunning views and only 1 1/4 hours from home!
What have you learned today?
To overcome your fear and negativity, definitely need trust on Allah, self confidence, motivations, good shoes, weather appropriate clothings and company for support and encouragement.
Enjoying yourself makes becoming fitter much easier
Admin decision was right to set off early
There is no telephone signal here so people MUST meet on time and also check which car park we come to. There are multiple car parks for the National Trust park

How did you feel after the walk?
Felt happy and rejuvenated
Thrilled, tired and well worked out.
Great
Feeling great! Alhamdulillah
Feel amazing
The walk left us invigorated.
An amazing 9 miles of walking over 6 hours
The lovely atmosphere ensured that the walk did not seem tedious.
Amazingly good
I felt a great sense of achievement since the walk was challenging in some aspects and I always dought myself.
Amazing
Satisfied that I have managed to complete almost 22000 steps unbelievable
Great to go with such a large group of people together, have lots and lots of conversations and get my steps in. This was a harder walk than I thought partly because the rain made the stones slippery. I was glad when finished the walk without falling once! Who says walking is easy? I liked the new route we did which allowed us to see the cove from the top and look down too
What have you learned today?
For health and safety, I would check the weather for next time.
When it’s raining it can get slippery
We are blessed to have such beneficial walks organised.
Travelling light is good
I think we should have been given more information on this walk
It is important to have somebody at the front who takes the lead and ensure all stay behind that person. It was good that we had 2 walkie talkies but we probably need some more walkie talkies. Glad we also had first aid kit with us including a wrist strap and bandages for somebody who fell and could have fractured his wrist. Also glad one member decided not to go too far and run into problems and instead went back to the car with thanks to the member
Any overall feedback?
Great walk. I would like to get more information about the route itself such as length of walk.
It would have been good to have a leader at the front of the walk all the way through even if it was someone taking turns with another person who knew the route. It was difficult when some people decided to go ahead despite not knowing the route and it led to longer unnecessary detours, which made us more tired and more importnaly, made us late for doing zuhr prayers after the walk.
Allah bless you
Excellent walk epic scenery couldn't stop walking.
10/10
Thank you Amir and Shelah for organising this event. For Aunty Nuzhat and Uncle for bringing me with them. Everyone’s kindness and encouragement keeping the group safe and moving
I think we should all walk together especially In cloudy weather

How did you feel after the walk?
It was fun to walk in the evening
The wonderful feeling of satisfaction knowing challenged accomplished, even better with supporting one another, esp when meeting majority of the people first time
Great achievement
What have you learned today?
Organiser to remind everyone to follow general housekeeping rules: importance of meeting on time. Everyone to be patient if someone isn’t at their pace. It’s ok to slow down and help one another and not to wander off ahead. It’s not a competition. It’s great to take pride on the number of places previously hiked but be wary not to boast about it as not everyone is comfortable comparing their own experiences. If previously been, not to ‘take lead’ as this can be patronising and confuse everyone. Also to ensure dressed appropriately- health and safety is important, not to put others at risk
Any overall feedback?
Firuja did a fab job, well organised. She arranged for Jo- experienced walker to lead the way. Couple of others to assist anyone who needed help scrambling and to get on the trinnacle. Also she ensured that every member didn’t feel alone and made effort to speak to everyone and everyone felt welcomed. She ensured everyone had lifts to get back home. Also despite not being good at heights herself, she assisted at the back to ensure everyone made it and wasn’t left behind. She was very patient with those who kept drifting off the group or wander off as they have previously been to the trinnacle. As she explained, we should stick as a group and kept everyone together.

How did you feel after the walk ?
Brilliant walk, 14, 176 steps done without breaking a sweat, loved the company, occasionally rained and then sun kept coming out, some great conversations and catching up with people I have not seen for ages. Loads of fun!
It was great to be back at this beautiful place
Enjoyed the walk and the company. Lovely day out with the walking group as always
It was an beautiful walk with amazing people Allahmdullilah. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I didn’t recommend coming. As you get to enjoy the outdoors, keep fit and meet wonderful people Allahmdullilah.
What have you learned today?
Asking everybody to walk together or at least those who you plan to go back with
Walking in hiking boots can get tiring so I will be bringing a comfy pair of slippers/ shoes to wear in the car on the way home.
That the people are so lovely and welcoming. It will encourage me to come more often InshaAllah!
Any overall feedback?
Great, easy walk, nice to see the alternative walk instead of going up a steep hill which varies it a little more too. Also liked the fact that after we had eaten at Grand Pa's we walked back the way we came and saw a different view as a result as well as get a longer walk back and more steps too!
Nostalgic
Amazing walk and met someone new too which was great

Amazing, exhilarating, happy, fulfilled, energetic, looking forwards to the next walk
Great walk with plenty of exciting challenge and amazing views.
This was an exhilarating walk with just enough challenge and light scrambles, very fun!
What have you learned today?
Company is what defines you. Always be in good company.
advised people to take painkillers before the walk and also bring walking sticks and tubigrip too
That I really enjoy challenging walks.
Stay with group
Sticks can provide some support for balance and joints, walking backwards downhill can be useful

MAshallah tabarak Allah such a beautiful walk. Felt exhilarating!!
It relaxing walk and enjoyed the social aspect of the walk.
Fabulous
Stunning setting, lovely people.
Much needed outing!
What a beautiful walk. Felt great after doing the walk. Very fulfilling and got my steps in too - over 12,900 steps and the day is still young!
Probably the best walk ever!! Rivers, more than 6 spectacular waterfalls, woodland, foot bridges, flowers. I’m so glad I went despite the early start.
What have you learned today?
Getting out into the wild is necessary
Bring light layers to take off and on. Also a light waterproof jacket
If it is meant to be, it will be. Jzk Br Amir, Sr Hafsa and Mona for help with getting me there and back safely.
Much appreciated!
Check wallet mobile before start the walk.
Ask everybody at the start if they have got their wallets and phone with them. Keep the walkie talkie with us
Any overall feedback?
Excellent
The best part was standing behind the waterfall. Enjoyed talking to people and had good discussions about joining the Army!!
Really enjoyed it today. I would say it is my favourite walk to date. Alhamdullillah. Stunning scenery, perfect weather for the walk and amazing company! Despite overcoming hurdles to get there..it was definitely really worth it!
Lovely
Jazakallah khair
The walkie talkies were good. The rest breaks after lunch were long, would have been good if they were shorter. Would have been good if we got the Ingleton postcode earlier if we wanted the option to drive straight there meeting at Bagley added an extra hour to my journey time although it was good to have car share options.
Amazing experience
Brilliant
Excellent walk - a firm favourite for us
That’s good we meet before we left Manchester so we could car share as much as possible. Thank you Amir and Shahla for making these walks happen. A lovely group that took care of each other.
It was fun getting wet in the waterfalls and stepping stones. Enjoyed eating lunch next to the river.

Scafell Pike
28th May 2022
How did you feel after the walk?
Was so proud of everyone and myself that we achieved such a huge achievement. Wow we all did it.
I did this walk 4 years ago as my very first walk. It was exhilarating and actually the walk that encouraged me to set up South Manchester Muslim Walking Group because I never knew walking could be so much fun and also that there were some amazing places for us to see and enjoy with others too. However my feet and knees ached so much, I said I would never do this walk again. Since starting walking, alhamdulillah my fitness levels have improved without me feeling it and this time, it felt like a "walk in the park". (Well OK - maybe not quite that but not far from it). And that comes from somebody who really disliked the gym or exercising per se. Today's walk was amazing, the weather was perfect, the company was lovely and the photos and videos really show how far we have come in such a short space of time and how much others enjoy it too. Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England and we conquered it together! We all went up, we all came down and each and every person got a real sense of achievement just as I did 4 years ago and happily enough 4 years later I can say I did it again!
Feel a great sense of accomplishment and proud of the group, great leadership from Br Amir.
Difficult walk which was made better with support of the group.
Beyond amazing, the team admin and leaders are great 👍, excellent rapport and support
Happy
Exhausted but felt a sense of accomplishment
I feel very accomplished after this one walk and now I have inspiration to go on many more.
What have you learned today?
Walkie Talkies were a great idea
We really should do warm up exercises before the walk and after too. Having the walkie talkies also really helped so the person in front and the person at the back were in constant touch
Bring enough water especially if it's sunny
Maybe driving in convoy, especially for those who only have one adult in the car. This is important for walks that are far like the one yesterday. Also lots of dark windy roads, if in convoy it would put all those driving at more ease. I enjoyed the walk yesterday but would probably not do it again due to some of the roads around there. I have a good powerful automatic car but the roads were still quite scary.
Team work, it's not a competition , it's a journey together
Any overall feedback?
It was really nice being able to walk at our own pace with regular breaks. What an amazing feeling it was to reach the top! Furheen was an excellent guide checking everyone was alright.
Excellent walk, difficult walk but well worth it.
Great "go to" person Furheen who made it all possible by having lots of breaks.Great to see people who have been on walks and built up their strength to still manage to go on this walk. It's one to always remember- we did it together!
Lovely walk with amazing go to person who was very organised. Another thing ticked off the list of things I wanted to do.
Wow, thankful ALHAMDOLILLAH
Fabulous
It was good and fun because I made friends.

How did you feel after the walk?
I felt a real sense of group achievement
Brilliant, loved it. Couldn't have asked for more.
Kinder Scout was such an amazing walk. Great Leadership all the way.
Good work out
Exhilarating but tired and in pain.
Amazing
Happy that I was able to do it and finish it!
Satisfied to have achieved something
Legs were aching
Amazing walk. Had lots of fun.
Amazing. I was worried this was going to be a very difficult walk. Amazing sense of achievement having completed it and had a wonderful time too. Weather and company was perfect
What have you learned today?
With Allah's help and good company, can achieve great things in life.
Always carry a wooly hat as it can get windy
Wear light clothing layers, to adjust to the change in climate
Invest in walking sticks definitely for certain kind of walks
My limits. My strengths and weaknesses.
Good company is important
Need to take medicine before walk
Any overall feedback?
Spectacular scenery and very well planned walk, enjoy every step.
Great walk that was well organised
I would do this walk again. Faisal took care to make sure everyone was alright and enjoying themselves, incorporating regular breaks.
Amazing walk with an excellent go to person
A Great and healthy way to spend a day
Really enjoyed it to begin with, less so when the pleasure turned to pain.
It was very well organised. The 'go-to', Faizal, kept the pace manageable for all abilities, looked out for all of us, gave us good advice and even gave each of us a whistle at the start. Also, he added some humour with giving us some Kinder chocolate at the trig point of Kinder scout. Really enjoyed the day and also the delicious meal afterwards at Curry Cabin
Great people with amazing character
Enjoyable
Excellent Go to person who looked after everyone and even brought chocolates and a whistle for all the participants.
Amazing walk. Faisal was a great "go to" person who made it really easy for us with multiple suitable breaks along the way

Any overall feedback?
Maybe assess everyone's fitness level individually.
Really enjoyed this walk today. It was a nice one to go after having a long break due to Ramadan
The walks are the best thing ever and I look forward to them every weekend.

Tell us how you felt after the walk
Inspired to maintain walks and social connections
Alhamdulillah really relaxed and felt like I had had a wonderful day surrounded by beautiful scenery, wonderful friendly people and would love to join again in sha Allah!
A nice day out
Beautiful weather, great company, great place to start the walk from a mosque, to pray namaz together and then walked on to Wilmslow Road, walked through the Whitworth Art gallery then went on to Whitworth park and Platt Fields park. Time flew by and although we thought it would be just a lot of eating, actually managed to do over 15,000 steps as well! Definitely a favourite and brought us altogether and we managed to get a few more people to join us too!

A reminder that: Walking definitely has many health benefits both physical and mental.
