Scafell Pike
28th May 2022
How did you feel after the walk?
Was so proud of everyone and myself that we achieved such a huge achievement. Wow we all did it.
I did this walk 4 years ago as my very first walk. It was exhilarating and actually the walk that encouraged me to set up South Manchester Muslim Walking Group because I never knew walking could be so much fun and also that there were some amazing places for us to see and enjoy with others too. However my feet and knees ached so much, I said I would never do this walk again. Since starting walking, alhamdulillah my fitness levels have improved without me feeling it and this time, it felt like a "walk in the park". (Well OK - maybe not quite that but not far from it). And that comes from somebody who really disliked the gym or exercising per se. Today's walk was amazing, the weather was perfect, the company was lovely and the photos and videos really show how far we have come in such a short space of time and how much others enjoy it too. Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England and we conquered it together! We all went up, we all came down and each and every person got a real sense of achievement just as I did 4 years ago and happily enough 4 years later I can say I did it again!
Feel a great sense of accomplishment and proud of the group, great leadership from Br Amir.
Difficult walk which was made better with support of the group.
Beyond amazing, the team admin and leaders are great 👍, excellent rapport and support
Happy
Exhausted but felt a sense of accomplishment
I feel very accomplished after this one walk and now I have inspiration to go on many more.
What have you learned today?
Walkie Talkies were a great idea
We really should do warm up exercises before the walk and after too. Having the walkie talkies also really helped so the person in front and the person at the back were in constant touch
Bring enough water especially if it's sunny
Maybe driving in convoy, especially for those who only have one adult in the car. This is important for walks that are far like the one yesterday. Also lots of dark windy roads, if in convoy it would put all those driving at more ease. I enjoyed the walk yesterday but would probably not do it again due to some of the roads around there. I have a good powerful automatic car but the roads were still quite scary.
Team work, it's not a competition , it's a journey together
Any overall feedback?
It was really nice being able to walk at our own pace with regular breaks. What an amazing feeling it was to reach the top! Furheen was an excellent guide checking everyone was alright.
Excellent walk, difficult walk but well worth it.
Great "go to" person Furheen who made it all possible by having lots of breaks.Great to see people who have been on walks and built up their strength to still manage to go on this walk. It's one to always remember- we did it together!
Lovely walk with amazing go to person who was very organised. Another thing ticked off the list of things I wanted to do.

Amazing. I was worried this was going to be a very difficult walk. Amazing sense of achievement having completed it and had a wonderful time too. Weather and company was perfect
What have you learned today?
With Allah's help and good company, can achieve great things in life.
Always carry a wooly hat as it can get windy
Wear light clothing layers, to adjust to the change in climate
Invest in walking sticks definitely for certain kind of walks
My limits. My strengths and weaknesses.
Good company is important
Need to take medicine before walk
Any overall feedback?

Also, he added some humour with giving us some Kinder chocolate at the trig point of Kinder scout. Really enjoyed the day and also the delicious meal afterwards at Curry Cabin

Did you learn anything today?
I need to build my stamina
Any overall feedback?
Extremely scenic walk so we really enjoyed it ….
Great initiative led by a lovely couple!
Excellent as always
I did notice that some other walkers looked annoyed when some of our group didnt automatically make way for them
I think a gentle reminder on single file walking when needed (when you notice someone else coming and trying to get past), being mindful of others walking and them not having to say excuse me loudly a few times for people to move out of the way
Really important to be aware of one's environment and be as courteous / helpful to other walkers too.
Just a thought.
Another amazing walk with amazing people. I felt the walk was shorter and quicker than before so shows fitness is improving

How did you feel after the walk?
Enjoyed the walk less than normal as too many mixed abilities. I wanted a more challenging walk at a faster pace.
It felt like we were in Harry Potter forbidden forrest- lots of bridges and stone steps. So lovely to have a small group as it felt like a personalised tour. Shehla and Amir make a fabulous team.
Varied and interesting landscapes within the forest for walking and exploring especially for the younger kids on the walk
Accomplished
What did you learn today?
Your policy is to wait 15 minutes then start the walk. This does not happen and is not fair on those that make the effort to be there on time.
Keep going, your stamina will improve. Children in walks adds a special flavour
Enjoyed the walk, very unfit, would need to build my stamina, also a little too long for children and me as I have other things to do on weekend the long routine puts me out for other things for the day, however
my solution to this is by choosing to leave halfway to accommodate the walk to our needs.
Any overall feedback
Keep em coming! I liked later timing as it gave us time to eat beforehand. Please leave on time even though it might be upsetting - late walkers will try to make their own fun and can then focus on being on time for next one.

Any overall feedback?
I’m really glad I came
Excellent company good speed of walk
It was lovely to meet different, yet like-minded people. As a group, it is easier to do longer walks. For me, the best part of a walk is being able to engage with all of my senses. I especially love listening to the birds and I always feel closer to my creator when I am surrounded by nature.
All the walk organised by this group have always been good.
Any chance of doing g walks o Friday mornings.

Absolutely amazing, felt on top of the world and exceeded my expectations but also thanked Allah (SWT) for such an amazing experience and felt very fortunate for this. Great company, great landscape, awesome weather and got 17000 steps in too! What more could you want?
Challenging in places but worth the challenge. Real sense of achievement.

Amazing walk today. I liked the challenge factor too. The weather was a massive bonus.

An amazing day, views spectacular, guide excellent and company brilliant!
Felt refreshed and on top of the world !

Bring extra clothes and if the weather is good leave them in the car instead of lugging them around with you. I am happy to share this.
The world God has created is pure art.
walking stick is a useful piece of equipment. It can make a big difference if used properly.
Any overall feedback?
What a great day! Thank you.
This was a 6 hour walk that was gentle with some steep inclines at the beginning. Having walking sticks does help as a few people slipped on the way. Highly enjoyable - one of my favourites now that I would love to do again and again. Now I know what Mam Tor, Back Tor and Losehill is all about!
People need to make sure they arrive on time. It's really not fair to arrive late, it eats into the hike time and means we have to reduce break times. I would also suggest people ask questions about the walk so they understand the expectations of the walk.
Everything seemed to have gone smoothly. I think a more designated area for lunch would have been better though
Loved it all today. I feel like I had a really decent walk.
Climbing up Mam tor was a difficult but everyone moved at a good pace and eventually we got to the top. It was defo worth it. Would I do it again? Definitely.
Very good!
I found it so damn hard in the beginning but as i was a beginner so thats fine but slowly it seemed so easy plus im not gonna lie that was one of my really beautiful experience. I met few people talked about different things . Thankyou guys for arranging such a beautiful walk im definitely going with you guys again.

Great sense of achievement.
I felt really good after the walk
I felt really good.
This was another lovely walk with a steep incline at the end that we needed to stop half way to catch our breath. Good opportunity to learn about the keto diet from one of the participants and how they have led the way in their family! Learn something new every walk....

Brilliant walk, feel like I've connected with special people! Good organisation and would definitely attend another walk soon!
Thank you!
Exhilarating
It was great to meet new people on the walk. Splitting into smaller groups meant we were less "intimidating" and also walking together in groups of 2 or 3 meant everybody could enjoy the countryside together. Met a wonderful local family as well whilst seeing breathtaking views of the city. Great start to the New Year
Good to be in the fresh air
Any overall feedback ?

Good amount of uphill walking to build stamina for beginners
It was an amazing walk. I really love this walk. Unfortunately we can't control the weather so we didn't get to see the sunset but we all prayed together and that was wonderful alhamdulillah.
