This trail takes you through a beautiful part of the Peak District, leading you up Hen Cloud, the Roaches, and Ramshaw Rocks.
From the lay-by parking along Road Road, follow the winding road and then steep path up Hen Cloud, meaning ‘steep rock’, located at the southern end of the Roaches. From this rocky outcrop, you’re treated to stunning views across the Peak District and Tittesworth Reservoir below.
Descend to the col and continue up the Upper Tier of the Roaches. This ridge of gritstone rock formations extends across the South Pennine Moors and is an impressive sight. As you make your way along, enjoy the breathtaking views and the fascinating geology that this area has to offer.
The path is fairly level in gradient once you are up. However, the terrain is quite uneven, so appropriate footwear is essential.
