About the event
This is a beautiful trail in the Peak District National Park, taking you all the way around Derwent Reservoir and Howden Reservoir in the Upper Derwent Valley. This is a relatively flat route with mainly gravel and tarmac paths that are easy to follow, offering stunning views across the water. Starting from the Fairholmes car park at the tip of Ladybower Reservoir, this trail follows a scenic road that winds northward, tracing the western banks of the Derwent Reservoir. Along this route, you’ll encounter the Monument to the Dambusters, serving as a reminder of the area being used to practice the Dambuster Raid in the Second World War, with these dams being similar to German ones. Continuing on, you will come across the Memorial to Tip, which stands as a touching tribute to a loyal sheepdog named Tip, who faithfully accompanied shepherd Joseph Tagg, even after Tagg lost his life…
