A moderately challenging circular 13.8km walk from Bolton Abbey, starting near to the Priory. The walk heads up to and crosses Barden bridge before returning down the other side of the Wharf, where the footpath is more undulating.

Head out on this 13.8-km circular trail near Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 47 min to complete.

Bolton Abbey is a wonderful place to visit in autumn, with beautiful leaf colours to enjoy on the riverside journey. It is the site of an Augustinian monastery, a priory rather than an abbey, which fell into ruins following the dissolution of the monasteries in the mid-16th century. During the 18th century, the estate passed into the ownership of the Dukes of Devonshire and has been under their stewardship ever since.  

From Bolton Bridge, make your way to the River Wharfe and continue on the riverside path. Soon, you will pass the ruins of the priory, where you cross the river via the bridge or the stepping stones and continue on the other side of the river. Further along, cross the…
