About the event

Nassima Dalal is the "go to" person for this event

There are many routes up to Rivington Pike and this one selected is not too long so hopefully you will all make it back in time before rush hour traffic.  The walk should take approximately 1.5 hours. Allow extra time for breaks. There are a couple of benches at the lake and summit otherwise lots of flat ground to sit on so feel free to bring snacks/drinks.  The path is rocky with a slight incline but nothing too ardous although this walk is not suitable for prams or very little children. There are over 100 steps to climb to the tower but depending on the needs of the group we can do these uphill or downhill, we can decide on the day.

Where to park

The post code for the area is BL6 6RU but bear in mind this is a very broad and rural area and the post code is for a very long road, so I would recommend you follow the Google pin below for the car park  https://maps.app.goo.gl/e6mFNqrf8Q8G5Daq5

The main road you are driving along is called George's Lane in Horwich(BL6 6RU). It is a very long road so continue until you pass houses on your right hand side.  On your left side you will see a small carpark just after 2 narrow country lanes(one is called Marklands Road and the one after it is called Old Rake). It is where the tarmac road ends and the gravelly path begins.  If the car park is full then you can park along the road. There is also parking further up the lane
